Judy Dae and Kristen Malone elected to Fort Bend ISD

Judy Dae and Kristen Malone won the Fort Bend ISD board of trustees election today.

In a crowded race of six contestants, Malone defeated incumbent President Addie Heyligar.

Dae won the open seat in a four-cornered contest.

The two new faces will join three others elected in 2020, with only two long-serving trustees, Jim Rice and Dave Rosenthal remaining on the board.

In Stafford MSD, Dawn Reichling won with 393 votes (45.38 percent).

In the Sugar City Council elections, Dist. 4 incumbent Carol McCutcheon won re-election handsomely with 1,951 votes (81 percent), defeating Sakki Jospeh who got 455 votes (19 percent).

In Dist. 1 open seat, Donna Batten Molho and Susanne Whatley both received the same number of votes, 554 each. (This was as of 9 p.m. and the counting was not complete. If there is a tie after complete count, there will be a runoff election.) Finally, Whately with 707 votes beat Molho's 701 votes.

In Stafford, incumbent councilwoman Alice Chen retained her seat with 689 votes (76 percent), defeating Thomas John who got 215 votes, (24 percent).

In another Stafford City Council race, incumbent Wen Guerra, who was unopposed, got 597 votes.

City of Rosenberg elected a new mayor in Kevin W. Raines. He defeated Cynthia McConathy.

Raines got 944 votes (72.5 percent) and McConathy 358 votes, (27.5 percent).

In Fulshear, Kent Pool with 459 votes (83 percent) won an at-large seat, defeating Cayce Saban, who got 97 votes (17 percent).

In Fulshear’s Dist. 1 race, Zach Jones won with 281 votes (75 percent), defeating Tajana Surlan, who got 94 votes (25 percent.)

In the City of Missouri City, all nine charter amendments were overwhelmingly approved by voters.

In Missouri City’s November 2020 election, more that 31,000 people voted. In the charter amendment election this year, barely 3,000 people voted.

Similarly, in the 2020 FBISD election, more than 137,000 people voted. In this election just 12,000 people voted.

All over the county, in various city and school board elections, out of a total 346,585 registered voters, 17,605 votes, marking a 5 percent turnout.
