A 36-year-old Sugar Land woman is facing a murder charge in connection with the death of her 4-year-old son.

Authorities believe Ritika Rohatgi Agrawal may be suffering from mental illness and will determine if she is mentally competent to understand her charges and face trial should it come to that.

Sugar Land police officers responded to a residence in the 5200 block of Weatherstone Circle in the Gardens of Avalon subdivision around 10:40 a.m. Saturday.

When the husband came home, he is said to have discovered his wife wandering around the house with several injuries. Then he went upstairs, and found the child dead.

The wounds on the woman appeared to be self-inflicted, according to the police.

Ritika Agrawal is still in hospital and recovering and is in the custody of SLDP as of Sunday.

Very few details about the family are available from community members at this time.
